Sharpshooter heads list as Richmond announces delistings
RICHMOND has acted quickly following its elimination final defeat, cutting seven players from its list, including forward Aaron Edwards.
Brett O'Hanlon and Brad Helbig have also been delisted, as well as rookies Orren Stephenson, Ben Darrou, Cadeyn Williams and Todd Banfield.
They join retiring pair Jake King and Daniel Jackson, taking the total list turnover to nine ahead of the upcoming trade and free agency period.
It is the most sweeping list turnover in coach Damien Hardwick's five-year tenure.
Edwards played 12 games for the Tigers in two seasons after stints with West Coast and North Melbourne.
He managed three senior games in 2014, spending the majority of the season in the VFL where he was a regular goalkicker.
Stephenson, who was recruited as a mature-age rookie in 2013, was a valuable back-up to injured big man Ivan Maric last year but only featured in one senior match in 2014.
The 32-year-old was the oldest first-time recruit in draft history when Geelong snapped him up in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft.
O'Hanlon, who was recruited in the 2012 NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft, played one of his nine senior games in 2014 but had an inconsistent VFL season across half-forward.
Helbig was unable to break into the senior team this year, with the midfielder managing 16 AFL games in four seasons.
Rookies Darrou, Williams and Banfield did not play a senior game for the club.
"We’d like to thank all of these players for their hard work during their time at the Richmond Football Club," football manager Dan Richardson said.
"They have each made their own contribution to the club and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours."
