ADAM Schneider will have to wait until the end of the trade period to find out if he's a required player at St Kilda.

As was the case with now-retired defender Jason Blake in 2012, Schneider has been told a decision on his future won't be made until October.

Blake had to wait until the final day of the trade period to find out if he would be offered another year, as it depended on the outcome of the Saints' pursuit of West Coast's Mitch Brown.

Brown stayed an Eagle, and Blake was retained for a 14th and final season.

Saints head of football Chris Pelchen said the 30-year-old was content with the club's position.

"No decision has been made on Adam," Pelchen told AFL.com.au.

"We will work through the AFL trade period and then further review the composition of our list before arriving at a conclusion."

The trade period ends on Thursday, October 16 at 2pm.

Schneider played 13 games this year after being hampered by a back injury he sustained against Port Adelaide in the pre-season.

He had dropped 4kg over summer in a bid to put the hamstring problems that had plagued him for the past two years behind him.

But it was a mystery foot infection that saw him miss four games in the middle of this year before he managed to play out the season from round 16 onwards.

The Saints have already announced veteran defender Sam Fisher will play on for at least another year, having signed a contract extension.

Nathan Wright is their latest young gun to recommit, with the 20-year-old signing on until the end of 2016.

So far, Luke Dunstan, Josh Saunders, Jack Newnes and Lewis Pierce have signed as part of the Saints' "Future Fest" contract blitz, which will continue throughout September.

Jack Billings, Blake Acres, Darren Minchinton and Eli Templeton are among those expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Wright said he looked forward to being a part of the rebuilding Saints as they worked towards restoring the club to become a finals contender again.

"It's good to come through with a great group of young blokes and there are some exciting times at the moment," Wright said.

"We are all bonding together and driving this club forward.

"Hopefully by the end of 2016 we are competitive again and pushing for a place in September."

James Gwilt, Clint Jones, Trent Dennis-Lane and Sam Dunell have been delisted while Lenny Hayes and Beau Maister have retired.

Terry Milera has requested a trade home to South Australia.
