FORMER Brisbane Lions coach Michael Voss is unlikely to step back into coaching next season.

Adelaide is searching for a new coach to replace Brenton Sanderson, while Guy McKenna is on shaky ground after Gold Coast's board has called for a full review of its football department.

Speculation has linked Voss - who was sacked by the Lions last August and is now working in the media - to both roles.

However, he does not expect to be involved at club level next year.

"When I stepped away from coaching last year I thought it would be years before I even thought of getting back into coaching and I love what I'm doing," he said on SEN on Friday morning.

"If anything it's showed me in the last 24 hours the reasons why I'm not in there because it's exceptionally brutal. You've got to be 100 per cent in it, it's so consuming.

"Right now as I sit here, no way had I thought that I would be sitting there in a coaching capacity or even in clubland next year.

"So I don't know whether that necessarily answers it but that's the way it certainly feels."
