GEELONG recruit Mitch Clark finished Friday night's win over Collingwood visibly emotional, and did not take part in the Cats' team song after the game.

Clark, who kicked two goals in the Cats' 41-point victory, appeared to be consoled by Geelong coach Chris Scott in the MCG rooms after the match.

Broadcast vision showed the 27-year-old walk in with the team but not join in their celebrations, instead being shepherded into another area.

Scott was asked after the game whether there were any issues relating to the former Melbourne and Brisbane Lions forward.

"I'm not aware of that," Scott said.

AFL Media photographer Michael Willson, who captured the incident, said he wasn't sure what caused Clark to become upset.

“I noticed Clark was upset when was he was walking off the ground, so I followed him down the race and noticed Chris Scott had his arm around him," Willson said.

“He was definitely upset. I’m not sure why - it could’ve been anything.”

Clark has endured a shocking run with injury throughout his career, including a foot injury that ruined his time with the Demons.

In 2012 he broke down with a Lisfranc joint injury, played just four games in 2013 before needing surgery, and then retired in April 2014 without playing another game for the Demons after being diagnosed with clinical depression.

He resumed his career with the Cats during last year's trade period as part of a three-way deal with Melbourne, Geelong and Collingwood.

Clark missed the Cats' win over Richmond last week with a foot injury, but the Cats allayed any fears it was related to his previous injury concerns.

It is the only game he has missed so far this year, booting 11 goals in five appearances for his new club.
