JAMES Aish says there is no deadline for him to decide whether to remain at the Brisbane Lions next season.

With Aish out of contract at year's end, his manager Liam Pickering met Lions CEO Greg Swann and football manager Dean Warren at the Gabba on Monday to discuss the midfielder's future.

Aish, pick No.7 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft and fourth in the 2014 NAB AFL Rising Star, described the meeting as "really positive" but said he would not be rushed into making a decision.

Form, not contract, got Aish dropped

"It (the meeting) went really well. We talked about moving forward from here and my main aim is to get back playing," Aish told the club's website.

"With the contract, I'm leaving it to my manager and the club. They are going to keep on talking throughout the year.

"We don't have any set dates but they will continue talking … and I'll be left to keep trying to get a kick and get a few games in the seniors."

Aish was dropped from the senior side after gathering just six disposals against West Coast in round four.

There are a number of opposition clubs who have expressed interest in the South Australian, led by home-town team Adelaide.

There were also reports last week that several senior Carlton figures flew to Queensland to meet with Aish.

It is a claim that Pickering has denied.

Swann said the Lions would continue their discussions with Pickering and Aish as they chase the 19-year-old's signature.

"We are really pleased that Liam has come up and spoken about a way to go forward in relation to James, and we are satisfied with where the process is at," Swann said in a statement.

"We will continue to discuss James' long-term future as he seeks to return to the senior team. His selection will be solely based on form."
