- Bombers taking on Eagles without a recognised ruckman
- Dockers drop Paul Duffield and Zac Clarke for Suns clash
- Nick Malceski returns for the Suns, along with Charlie Dixon

ESSENDON is set to take on West Coast big man Nic Naitanui without a genuine ruckman, having dropped Tom Bellchambers without naming a direct replacement.

Coach James Hird has lost patience with the out-of-form Bellchambers – and defender Courtenay Dempsey - and won't take either to Perth for Saturday's clash with the Eagles at Domain Stadium.

The Bombers have regained captain Jobe Watson after he missed last week with a groin injury and included former Giant Shaun Edwards for his first game at the club.

But they haven't even named an additional ruckman in their emergencies, indicating the duel with Naitanui will be mainly left up to defender-turned-forward Jake Carlisle.

The Eagles have finally regained Jack Darling after the forward kicked five goals in the WAFL last week in his first game since round 23 last year.

Xavier Ellis has also been recalled after strong WAFL form while Jackson Nelson and Fraser McInnes have been omitted.

Port Adelaide has lost Karl Amon to a calf injury for Friday night's clash against Geelong at Adelaide Oval.

Sam Colquhoun's 25-possession, two-goal performance in the SANFL has earned him a recall for the Power, who are still without Paddy Ryder (Achilles) and Jackson Trengove (ankle).

Geelong big man Rhys Stanley travelled and has been named to return from a one-week quad injury, but Mitch Clark will miss again with his calf complaint.

Shane Kersten has held his spot despite being subbed out with a hamstring last week against Essendon, with Michael Luxford omitted after a quiet debut.

Charlie Dixon and Nick Malceski headline the ins for Gold Coast, with the former to return from a one-game club suspension and the latter for his first senior game since round four.

Defender Jack Leslie has been named to replace the injured Steven May, while Greg Broughton (Achilles) and Keegan Brooksby (calf) are also out of Saturday's clash with Fremantle at Metricon Stadium.

After two weeks of naming an unchanged line-up, the Dockers have had to adjust their backline with defender Michael Johnson suffering a long-term hamstring injury.

Chris Mayne is another forced omission because of illness.

With Zac Dawson (thumb) and Alex Silvagni (hamstring) still unavailable, Alex Pearce has been given the nod to replace Johnson despite not playing since bruising his back in round seven.

Tendai Mzungu has been named for his first game since round four, Jack Hannath for his first for the season and Lee Spurr has been recalled.

Paul Duffield and Zac Clarke have been omitted from the team that went down to Richmond at home last Friday night.

North Melbourne and the Sydney Swans will enter Saturday night's clash at Etihad Stadium with unchanged line-ups.

Robin Nahas has held his place, despite being subbed out with three possessions from three quarters last week, while Jarrad Waite has been named despite landing hard on his right knee in the third quarter against the Eagles.

The Swans remain settled with John Longmire feeling no need to tinker with the side that made light work of the Suns last week.

Collingwood midfielder Taylor Adams has been named to face his former side Greater Western Sydney on Sunday at the MCG after missing last week with a toe complaint.

The Magpies have also recalled Jarrod Witts to help combat Shane Mumford, after the ruckman was a late withdrawal last week with soreness.

Half-back Brayden Maynard has been named for his potential debut but the Pies are yet to announce who will come out of their expanded squad.

The Giants have added Nick Haynes, Zac Williams and Andrew Phillips to their squad without any omissions at this stage.

St Kilda has again been forced to omit in-form players with the return of Adam Schneider and Jack Sinclair to the rookie list.

While one will be eligible to be upgraded next week as the mid-season nominated rookie, they'll both miss Sunday's clash with Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.

But luckless defender Sam Gilbert is back for his first game of the season, while Mav Weller returns from a one-week suspension, Luke Dunstan from being rested and Daniel McKenzie from concussion.

The Saints have also named Tim Membrey and defender Hugh Goddard for his potential AFL debut.

Ruckman Tom Hickey joins Schneider and Sinclair as the omissions at this stage.

The Demons have been busy at selection committee with seven inclusions and four outs at this stage – two that are forced.

While Colin Garland (hand) and Aaron vandenBerg (hamstring) will miss with injuries, Ben Newton and Matt Jones have been omitted.

Former Glenelg midfielder Alex Neal-Bullen has been named for a potential first AFL game, while fellow recent draftee Billy Stretch has been recalled after last playing in round seven.

Jack Grimes, Dean Terlich, Jake Spencer, Viv Michie and Dom Tyson have also been named to bolster the team that was run over by the Magpies on Monday.
