RHYS Palmer leads the list of Giants set to be called into AFL action as Greater Western Sydney looks to replace up to four of its key players who succumbed to injury in round 11.

Shane Mumford (rolled ankle), Joel Patfull (ribs), Phil Davis (ankle) and Stephen Coniglio (shoulder) were all cut down in the Giants' 42-point loss to Collingwood on Sunday.

A handful of players will now come into consideration to fill the void against North Melbourne on Saturday.

The Giants are spoiled for choice in the midfield, with left-footed onballer Palmer a more than suitable option to replace Coniglio.

Palmer has only featured in the opening four rounds of this season, but amassed a game-high 33 disposals (18 kicks, 15 handballs), six marks and four tackles in the UWS Giants' 28-point win over Southport on Sunday.

Fellow midfielder Jack Steele is a strong chance of making his long-awaited AFL debut after continuing his impressive NEAFL form. The 19-year-old collected 27 disposals (14 kicks, 13 handballs), 10 marks, 10 tackles and booted two goals.

First-round draftees last year, Paul Ahern (23 touches, one goal) and Caleb Marchbank (20 touches), could also come into contention after solid performances.

The Giants have a playing list full of talent but find themselves undermanned in key position players – in defence and the ruck.

Half-back Curtly Hampton, who has played 47 career games but only one this season, looks likely to replace either Patfull or Davis.

At 186cm, Hampton is not a key position backman but has the ability play as a rebounding defender.

Hampton collected 20 touches (12 kicks, eight handballs), took nine marks and kicked a goal in the NEAFL, so will be talked about at length at the Giants' match committee meeting this week.

First-round draft selection in 2012, Aidan Corr, is another defender who is in line to face the Kangaroos at Spotless Stadium. The Giants may recall the 195cm tall to match up on one the Roos' tall forwards such as Drew Petrie or Ben Brown.

Backman Adam Kennedy, who stands at 181cm, staked his claim with a 22-possession game in the NEAFL.

Of the Giants' four injured players against the Pies, only Mumford would seem likely to recover in time for the game against the Roos.

Ruckman Rory Lobb, who has played two games for the Giants, could be a suitable replacement in the ruck should Mumford not be fully fit.

The 205cm big man had 16 touches (10 kicks, six handballs) and one behind in the NEAFL, but registered seven goals the week prior.

Another potential ruck candidate is 202cm Andrew Phillips, who has played 11 games at the elite level for the Giants.
