Nine things we learned from round 14

THIS week’s review comes with a heavy heart after the sad passing of Phil Walsh. On a week when the Crows and Cats did not take the field out of respect, Fantasy coaches accepted the averages for players who consequently didn’t take the field in that game. In a tough round for all players, many responded by stepping up and producing huge performances, as you can see in the weekly top 10.

Fantasy Pig

Jack Steven is having a massive year and that continued this week against the Bombers when he was in beast mode, collecting 29 possessions, eight marks and 11 tackles for a huge score of 142. He is only owned by 7 per cent of the competition and should be high on every other coach's upgrade radar. Apologies to Scott Pendlebury and Josh Kennedy, who both managed to knock up 150, but Steven continues to go unrecognised and deserved the nod.

Fantasy Prestigacomo

This is by far the easiest week of season to find a Presti.  Brendon Goddard was coming off a huge week against the Hawks, only to put in the worst performance I have ever seen from him. I actually didn’t think he was capable of such a poor showing - he managed just 29 points from seven touches against St Kilda on Sunday. He left 42,000 coaches waiting for lockout to end to trade him out.

• Hird insists: I'm still the right man for the job

Junior Swine

Shaun McKernan had his second great game in a row for the struggling Bombers and managed a score of 79, including 23 hit-outs and 19 possessions. His dual position flexibility and job security add to the justification of his increased price tag.

Round 14's top 10 scores:

Scott Pendlebury, 152
Josh Kennedy (Swans), 151
Dan Hannebery, 146
Trent Cotchin, 145

Yes, well, that confirmed my thoughts!

He doesn’t look like a high risk vest concern. He is a great option to trade in this week.

Boom! That might be what the boys need to kick start a big second half of the season.

Massive score mate! I only just pipped you with 2362 ; )
