WEST Coast has confirmed it has put off contract negotiations with Scott Selwood until the end of the year, increasing the likelihood that he will depart the club in the off-season.

The vice-captain is rumoured to be seriously considering a move to Geelong in this year's free agency period to join older brother and Cats skipper Joel at Simonds Stadium.

Selwood, the 2012 club champion at West Coast, has struggled over the past two seasons thanks to injuries, and an abundance of up and coming midfielders on the club's list.

West Coast CEO Trevor Nisbett told SEN that the club won't be dealing with Selwood's future until the 2015 season had finished.

"He's in a position now where we're not going to even think about talking to him now - he needs to get himself right for the ongoing finals campaign," Nisbett said.

"We'll leave that until the end of the year and have a chat to him straight after the season."

Nisbett gave this latest development in the contract negotiations less than two weeks after AFL.com.au revealed that Selwood was set to make the move to Geelong.

The CEO also revealed that the impending finals campaign remains the club's focus, and the possibility of attracting Carlton speedster Chris Yarran to Perth hadn't been mentioned.

The West Australian has had a troubled year on and off the field and the Blues are expected to try and offload the 24 year-old during the trade period.

"We're probably more focused on what we're trying to achieve this year," Nisbett said.

"I'm sure his (Yarran's) name will come up post-season and there'll be a discussion there."
