BRISBANE Lions midfielder Jack Redden has had successful groin surgery and will be right to resume training early in the pre-season.

Redden played in Saturday night's heavy loss against Adelaide, but went in for surgery early this week to fix the lingering problem.

Lions physical performance coordinator Matt Hass said it went well.

"All reports are that everything went well and Jack will kick off his rehab," Hass told lions.com.au.

"It's a fairly lengthy rehab process but he should be right to join in early in pre-season and complete most of that, and will definitely be right for round one."

Redden has played 17 games in 2015, averaging 23 disposals and six tackles a game.
