THE BRISBANE Lions have re-signed Rising Star nominee Harris Andrews until at least the end of 2018.

In further good news for the club, running defender Ryan Harwood has also committed until the end of 2017.

The signature of Queenslander Andrews is a coup, after a stellar first season in the top league.

Standing at 200cm, beanpole Andrews has played 17 games since his round three debut and impressed with his composure and ability to take contested marks.

The 18-year-old is a graduate of the Lions' academy and was taken with pick No.61 in last year's AFL Draft.

"Brisbane is where I want to be, I’ve really enjoyed it here at the club and this is my home," said Andrews, who spent his entire junior football career (more than 200 games) with the Aspley Juniors in Brisbane’s northern suburbs.

Harwood’s two-year extension will ensure much-needed experience and toughness is retained in the backline.

The Tasmanian has played 59 games but spent the majority of 2015 injured.

"It’s always good to get another couple of years under the belt," Harwood said.

"I want to play here until we see some success, we haven’t had much since I’ve been at the club."
