PORT Adelaide defender Matthew Broadbent has no issue with Fremantle resting star players for Saturday's clash at Adelaide Oval.

The Dockers secured the minor premiership last week and will leave many of their best players in Perth this weekend, including skipper Matthew Pavlich, Luke McPharlin, Aaron Sandilands, David Mundy, Stephen Hill and Lee Spurr ahead of a qualifying final.

The move has drawn criticism from those who question whether such a move challenges the integrity of the game.

But Broadbent said he wasn't concerned at all by the tactics of Fremantle coach Ross Lyon.

"They've earned that right, they finished top … that's for them to worry about," he said.

"We can't control what sort of side they bring across, we haven't really been worried about our opposition too much over the last few weeks anyway – we're focused on what we're going to do.

"The last few weeks we've tried to focus on playing an aggressive, defensive brand of footy and it's working for us, so we're looking to finish off the year well like that."

That physical style of football has indeed worked well for the Power late in the season.

They've won five of their six games, but will fall agonisingly short of a finals berth.

"We've learned some pretty solid lessons over the year and that's what we'll be looking to take into next preseason," Broadbent said.

"When you're kicking back and watching other teams play finals, it will be pretty tough – it's just been disappointing."
