Commercial New Business Manager

A brand new opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Commercial New Business Manager to join the Western Bulldogs.  We are one of the 18 clubs of the Australian Football League (AFL) and situated in the fastest growing region of Australia. 

The objective of the Commercial New Business Manager is to actively source and secure new Club partners to contract branded assets and source new partnerships including digital that are aligned to the Western Bulldogs’ strategy. This position will be responsible for all facets of the sales function from strategic account development through to acquiring new key commercial accounts. 

Other key responsibilities associated with this position include:

  • identifying new revenue opportunities within the Club and drive incremental revenue within the existing sponsorship portfolio
  • conducting regular prospecting sessions to develop a robust pipeline of new business leads
  • conducting regular sales analysis planning and reporting aimed at maximising profitability 
  • understanding the needs of prospective client and providing solutions
  • developing and present partnership proposals to prospective partners
  • developing and maintaining innovative marketing collateral - including visual presentations
  • a key focus on developing and implementing digital sponsorship assets
  • meeting new business targets and KPI’s

The successful candidate will have a formal qualification in Marketing/Sports Management or Commerce and at least 5 years’ experience in a sales based position. You will also need to be strategic and take a solution based approach to business development encompassing the full sales cycle from prospect research, warm and cold calling, appointment setting, proposal development, contract negotiations and closing. 

We are seeking an individual with a ‘hunter mentality and strong negotiation and problem resolution skills. It is pivotal that you also have exceptional communication, organisational and presentation skills and an ability to develop integral relationships with all clients and stakeholders.
