RECRUITERS will get a final look at some of this year's draft hopefuls in the NAB All Stars curtain-raiser at the MCG on Saturday.

The NAB AFL Academy squad for 2016 (eligible for next year's draft) will take on the Allies team – which is made up of 2015 draft prospects from the division two teams (NSW/ACT, Tasmania, Queensland and the Northern Territory).

Injury has ruled out three of the most promising Allies players, with Sydney Swans academy midfielder Callum Mills unable to play because of a hamstring problem. Ben Keays (Brisbane Lions) and Jacob Hopper (GWS) are among the northern academy players also unavailable for the Allies.

This year's All Stars curtainraiser carries an increased interest for clubs, with many players in the Allies team up for grabs as academy prospects.

At last year's corresponding game, the Northern Territory's Nakia Cockatoo played his first game of the year and was awarded the medal as the best player on the ground, shooting him into the top-10 on draft night.

With the introduction of trading future picks, clubs will also be watching the NAB AFL Academy squad with a keen eye.

Small forward Ben Ainsworth, midfielders Jacob Allison, Sam Petrevski-Seton and Will Brodie, and tall defender Harrison Macreadie are among the candidates as early selections next year.

The Allies and Academy game will start at 10am AEST at the MCG on Grand Final morning. Watch our live stream from 9.55am AEST.
