RYAN Crowley did not attend Fremantle's best and fairest count on Saturday night just two days after he was delisted.

Crowley won the Dockers' best and fairest in 2012 and is a life member, having played 188 matches for the club.

Crowley was honoured on the night along with retirees Luke McPharlin and Paul Duffield.

Dockers captain Matthew Pavlich spoke, telling the 1000-strong crowd that he had still not made up his mind on whether he would play on in 2016.

Pavlich is uncontracted but has been given time by the club to make a decision on his future.

"I'm still unsure," Pavlich said.

"I need to get away for a bit. It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks.

"I haven't had time to really understand what's best for the football club and what's best for Lauren (Pavlich's wife) and I and our family."

Pavlich thanked Fremantle chief executive Steve Rosich, football manager Chris Bond and coach Ross Lyon for giving him the time to make his decision.

Star midfielder Nat Fyfe was walking without the cane he was sporting at the Brownlow Medal, but was in a moon boot having had surgery to repair the broken fibula in his left leg.

Fyfe said the surgery was successful and he should be running by late November.

"I had surgery last Tuesday," Fyfe said.

"They put a plate and eight screws in. It went really well.

"From here it's a pretty standard rehab and recovery over the next six weeks until I can run again but I shouldn't be interrupted going into next year."

Lyon revealed during his address to the crowd that Fyfe had sent him a text message during the Grand Final that had inspired him.

"As a coach you are looking for inspiration," Lyon said.

"I was sitting there watching the Grand Final obviously a little bit flat. A text came through and it was from Nathan Fyfe.

"It was inspirational. He was sitting with, I don't know exactly who, but it was a group of players.

"They had sat there, they weren't wallowing in their misery, they had sat there and analysed the Hawthorn game-style.

"They had identified five aspects that they thought were pertinent to us where we could improve.

"It sort of blew me away a little bit. I read them. I texted back Nathan, 'We will improve'.

"It's inspirational that already our player group, they're not wallowing, they're not giving up, it tells me they're prepared to do the work again."
