NEW CROW Troy Menzel has taken over one of Adelaide's most famous numbers with the former Blue to don the No.32 at his new club.

The number was vacated by reigning club champion Patrick Dangerfield, who played 152 of his 154 games with No.32 on his back.

It was previously worn by Brownlow medallist and eight-time All Australian Mark Ricciuto.

Menzel, 21, joined Adelaide after three seasons at Carlton and was humbled to be offered the famous number.

"The No.32 has obviously been worn by some champions of the Adelaide Football Club," Menzel said on the club's website.

"I'm very excited and honoured to receive the jumper, and I can't wait to get stuck into pre-season training with the boys on Monday."

Former skipper Ricciuto, who wore the number throughout his stellar 312-game career, is excited to see the new No.32 in action.

"Troy is a great pick-up for our footy club. Put him alongside Tex (Walker), Eddie (Betts) and all the guys up forward and it's pretty bloody exciting," Ricciuto said.

"I can't wait to see Troy running around at Adelaide Oval in the Crows colours. It'll be nice to see another young player start his journey at the club and in the No.32.

"Hopefully, he can kick a few more goals in it."

Bruce Lindsay was the inaugural owner of No.32, playing a total of six games in 1991 before Ricciuto took over.
