Are you a footy coach looking for a new adventure? AFL Fiji needs your help to promote the sport, along with good health, across the country.

This position is run and administered by Scope Global on behalf of the Australian Government, AVID - Australian Volunteers for International Development.

Duration: 12 months

Proposed Start Date: May 2016

Assignment Location:  Suva, Fiji

AFL Fiji uses Australian football as a foundation for promoting healthy lifestyles, with a particular focus on youth, women, and people with disabilities.  First introduced to Fiji in 2003, it was formalised six years later after AFL Asia-Pacific called a public meeting of interested locals in Suva. Fourteen people attended that meeting, but from these humble beginnings AFL Fiji’s membership has grown by 900% over the last three years.

The role will see you travelling to remote locations of Fiji to promote the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle through sport. You’ll provide additional training for AFL Fiji staff and volunteers to develop their leadership skills, with a continued focus on the expansion of women’s and girls’ participation in the sport. You’ll also be involved in further developing Bula Kick, Fiji’s version of the Auskick Program.

Ultimately you’ll be contributing to better health and fitness for Fijians, particularly women.
