WEST Coast has named both Jonathan Giles and Kane Lucas to face Essendon in the final NAB Challenge match, despite both men playing in a WAFL practice match on Saturday.

Both teams have named 25 players after the AFL enacted the heat policy for the game at Domain Stadium. The temperature has reached 39 degrees in Perth on Sunday.

The Eagles requested a 10-minute extension to decide on their final team.

Giles was a late addition to the squad and is likely to play limited minutes after a big day for East Perth on Saturday.

Lucas was also added with Dom Sheed and Fraser McInnes left out.

The Bombers named their travelling emergency Conor McKenna in their final 25 after leaving Jason Ashby and Will Hams in Melbourne.

The AFL only made a decision to enact the heat policy for Sunday's game after consulting both clubs on Saturday.

The heat policy was in place for Saturday's NAB Challenge clash between Fremantle and Geelong at Domain Stadium, but both sides decided not to use a 25th player in 33-degree heat.

GREATER Western Sydney ruckman Shane Mumford has overcome an ankle injury and will face the Brisbane Lions on Sunday.

Mumford injured the ankle against the Sydney Swans last week, but has been named in the Giants' 24-man team to play the Lions at Metricon Stadium.

Stephen Coniglio has been rested for the final NAB Challenge match with hamstring tightness.

For the Lions, young midfielder Ben Keays is one of four players left out. The Lions have decided to use just 23 players.

With the game starting at 12.10pm Gold Coast time, the AFL's heat policy has been enacted, with unlimited interchanges allowed and extended breaks after each quarter.
