NORTH Melbourne recruit Jed Anderson is set to miss eight to 10 weeks after suffering tendon damage to his hamstring in the Roos' round one win over Adelaide.

Anderson left the field in the second quarter last Saturday night and did not play any further part in the game.

North coach Brad Scott said after the match that the club's medical staff thought Anderson's injury was "pretty minor", but subsequent scans revealed tendon damage.

North Melbourne football director Geoff Walsh told NMFC.com.au on Tuesday Anderson's injury was not as serious as the one that sidelined Nick Dal Santo for nine rounds last season, and would not require surgery.

"Jed sustained a tear to his proximal hamstring tendon on Saturday night and had scans on Sunday to assess the damage," Walsh said.

"We anticipate a recovery period of between eight to 10 weeks at this stage.

"Jed's is a partial tear whereas Nick suffered a full tear, so no surgery is required.

"Given the nature of Jed's injury, we'll be in a better position to give a more accurate timeframe on his recovery period in the coming weeks."
