Plapp was also full of praise for Michie, who finished with 40 touches, and provided his side with "inside and outside midfield grunt".

Meanwhile, Plapp said Christian Petracca played around 85 per cent game time as he continued to build match fitness from a broken toe he suffered during the Christmas break.

The 20-year-old, the No.2 selection in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft, ended with 34 disposals and a goal, while forward Sam Weideman – the Demons' first-round draft pick last year at No.9 – registered three goals.

Western Bulldogs

State league affiliate: Footscray (VFL)
This weekend: Richmond v Footscray - Saturday April 16, 12pm, Punt Road Oval

The Bulldogs' 52-point loss was compounded by a serious knee injury to half-back Josh Prudden, who is understood to have ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.

Prudden would've been a suitable replacement for injured Dogs and fellow half-backs Jason Johannisen (hamstring) and Bob Murphy (knee).

Coming off the back of his game-high 34 disposals and two goals last weekend, Mitch Honeychurch was again among the Dogs' best players.

Forward Jack Redpath added two goals and could firm as a replacement for Tom Boyd (shoulder) should he miss next week, while onballer Lukas Webb and ruckman Will Minson kicked a goal each.

The Bulldogs led by 26 points in the second term, but conceded 16 goals to three after quarter-time in the heavy loss.
