CARLTON'S No.1 pick Jacob Weitering will miss at least two weeks with a shoulder injury.

Weitering hurt himself in the second quarter of Sunday's game against Essendon when trying to rush a behind.

Blues football manager Andrew McKay said Weitering wouldn't play for two to three weeks with a minor capsular injury in his right shoulder.

"We will wait for the soreness to settle, and then Jacob will focus on building the strength back into his shoulder, before being considered to play," McKay told the club website.

The defender has played all six games this season and was the round three nomination for the NAB AFL Rising Star award.

Carlton is aiming to win its third consecutive game against Collingwood on Saturday, before playing Port Adelaide and North Melbourne.

Young midfielder Charlie Curnow missed the 15-point win against the Bombers and has fallen ill with glandular fever.

“After Charlie was feeling run down last week, we got some tests done and results have confirmed this diagnosis,” McKay said.

“We will monitor him closely over the next week or two, which will give us a clearer indication of how long he will be sidelined for.”

Curnow was drafted with draft selection No.12 last year.
