ST KILDA midfielder Seb Ross will be at the club until at least 2018 after signing a two-year contract extension.

Ross, 23, is putting together the finest season of his career, averaging just over 26 disposals per game.

“We've got a really exciting young list, we’ve made a fair bit of our games this year, barring the weekend, so it was a pretty easy decision to sign on, knowing what’s in front of us,” Ross told saints.com.au.

He was one of the Saints' best when West Coast beat them by 103 points on Sunday, racking up 31 disposals and eight tackles.

The left-footer credited his impressive form to being able to train consistently.

“I’ve been able to get some continuity in my game this year purely based on the pre-season I had," he said.

"I didn’t miss too many sessions. I was out there day-in, day-out, working with the players and the coaching staff.”

Ross was drafted at No.25 in 2011. He had hamstring surgery after a serious tear in March last year.

Saints chief operating officer Ameet Bains expressed his delight at Ross' recommitment.

"Seb’s progress in 2016 has been pleasing, especially in his performances against quality opposition,” Bains said.

“Being here until at least 2018 will mean that Seb is able to play a critical part in our push to return to finals.”
