DION Prestia has joined the Gold Coast casualty ward and will head to Melbourne for minor knee surgery.

Just three days after Gary Ablett (shoulder) and Michael Rischitelli (knee) were ruled out for the season, Gold Coast confirmed Prestia's news on Thursday afternoon.

Are the Suns cursed? Injury crisis reaches nadir

The prolific midfielder pulled up sore after Saturday's win over the Brisbane Lions and scans revealed he would need surgery.

General manager of football operations Marcus Ashcroft told the club's website Prestia would get the procedure done as soon as possible.

"It appears he needs a minor clean up," Ashcroft said.

"We will send him down to see Julian Feller and will aim to get the surgery as soon as we can.

"Following the procedure we will have a greater understanding of when Dion will be able to return to the field."

Rischitelli will also see Feller next week to discuss reconstructing his ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, while Ablett will see Greg Hoy about his shoulder.

Prestia has played 95 games for the Suns, including 14 of a possible 15 this season.
