SUSPENDED Western Bulldogs player Stewart Crameri has made the ultimate footy faux pas, booking his wedding for Grand Final eve.

The unlucky 28-year-old obviously made the decision well before the Western Bulldogs made their unlikely charge into their first Grand Final for 55 years.

It is a story that will sit nicely in the list of classic Grand Final week stories, his marriage vows a pleasant precursor to the third-biggest day in his club's history.

Unfortunately Crameri's teammates won't be able to make the occasion, given they have an important date with destiny the following day.

Those teammates might have to make do with flicking through the wedding photos at their post-game get-together after their Grand Final against the Sydney Swans.

Scheduling the Grand Final in the first week of October, rather than the last Saturday in September, has caused some confusion for those trying to organise events around football.

Haylea Cooney, wife of former Bulldogs and Bombers player Adam Cooney, told EON Sports Radio that Crameri's partner Jess also had to work the date around her family coming from Ireland.

The 28-year-old has been unavailable to play for the Western Bulldogs this season as he was one of the 34 current and former Essendon players banned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport for doping offences until November 13.

However all players were permitted to return to their clubs for training and medical assessment two months before the expiry of their suspensions.

Crameri was recently welcomed back to the club for which he played 40 games in 2014 and 2015, after being traded from the Bombers at the end of 2013.

He will now be hoping that his anniversary becomes difficult to celebrate in the next few years as the Bulldogs try to back up this remarkable season with Crameri again among their ranks.
