The AFL is pleased to announce the senior umpiring panel for the 2016 Toyota AFL Grand Final between the Sydney Swans and the Western Bulldogs, to be played at the MCG this Saturday, October 1.

Matt Stevic, Simon Meredith and Scott Jeffery were selected as the field umpires with Justin Schmitt named as the emergency.

Jeffery will be umpiring his first grand final after a 300-game career that commenced in the 2001 season while Stevic (2012, 2014-15) and Meredith (2012-14) will each be umpiring their fourth grand final.

OPSM Director of Eyecare Peter Murphy congratulated the trio, after their selection was finalised late Monday afternoon.

“Matt, Simon and Scott have had great seasons and fully deserve their selection. As the major partner to the umpires, we are looking forward to a great grand final.”
