STAR Melbourne ruckman Max Gawn has sent a scare through the Demons' camp after falling heavily on his wrist at training.

The club, however, still expects Gawn to face Carlton on Sunday at the MCG, telling AFL.com.au there was no cause for concern.

The Melbourne big man was participating in a drill on Thursday morning at Gosh's Paddock when he stumbled and fell, landing on his left wrist.

Clearly in pain, Gawn walked to the sidelines holding his sore wrist.

The 25-year-old returned to the field several minutes later, and while he did not participate in match simulation with his teammates, he did complete a running session.

Earlier on Thursday morning, Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin had said Gawn would be on restricted training duties after hurting his back in the Demons' round one win over St Kilda.

The vision of Gawn's training incident can be seen on Footy Feed from 5pm AEST.
