CARLTON appears set for another list overhaul at the end of this season, with up to 27 Blues still uncontracted beyond 2017.

Over the past four seasons, Carlton has made the most list changes in the competition, 51, and, with the Brisbane Lions, is one of only two teams to have added at least 10 new players – including rookies – every season from 2013-16.

The Blues have turned over 14 players more than the AFL average (36.9) over that period, and 20 more than the teams with the lowest turnover, Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Fremantle and North Melbourne (all 31).

Carlton's 2017 uncontracted list is believed to be the largest in the competition and includes 2015 first-round draft picks Harry McKay, No.10 overall, and Charlie Curnow, No.12, who shape as priority re-signings.

Leadership group members Ed Curnow and Dennis Armfield are also among Carlton's out-of-contract players, along with free agents Matthew Kreuzer and Levi Casboult, and former Magpie Dale Thomas, who has a games-based trigger clause in his existing contract to play on in 2018.

Up to 17 unsigned Blues are yet to play a senior game in 2017, including Dylan Buckley, Liam Jones, Blaine Boekhorst, Kristian Jaksch, Liam Sumner and Nick Graham. Ciaran Byrne (knee), Andrew Phillips (foot) and Jed Lamb (knee) are in the same boat, but all have been returning from injury.

The uncertainty surrounding how much the salary cap will increase when the new CBA is finally settled has meant many clubs have more uncontracted players than normal for this time of year. 

However, North Melbourne, for example, has no more than 14 players out of contract.

Since Stephen Silvagni took over as list manager in 2015, Carlton has added 27 new players to its list – 15 in 2015 and 12 last season.

Carlton's unsigned list also includes its only remaining player from the 2014 NAB AFL Draft, Boekhorst. 

The Blues selected Boekhorst with pick No.19, a selection acquired in a trade with Greater Western Sydney that also involved Carlton giving up pick No.7 (Paul Ahern) and acquiring Jaksch and Mark Whiley.

Jaksch played just seven senior games in his first two seasons at Ikon Park, while Whiley was delisted at the end of last season after nine games. 

The Blues' out-of-contract players feature five rookies, including international Matt Korcheck.
