NORTH Melbourne has unveiled a new alternate jumper after a supporter vote opted for a design inspired by the club's original 'V' guernsey.

North surveyed its fans on three proposed jumpers to determine its alternate strip for 2018, with almost 42 per cent of 27,000 voters opting for the V jumper (11,239 votes) over a variation of the club's 1990s away strip (9,568).

The new alternate guernsey will be predominantly white with a blue V, while the club’s new Kangaroo logo will be embossed in the background.

North wore a V jumper – with a blue background and white V – in its first season in the League, 1925, and did not switch to its longstanding royal blue and white stripes for another eight years.

In 2003, North wore a V-inspired jumper in Heritage Round, before again using a similar design for The North Story strip in 2005.
