OUT for the year and out of contract, injured forward Stewart Crameri has a future at the Western Bulldogs, says coach Luke Beveridge.

The 28-year-old was lured from Essendon to the Bulldogs on a lucrative four-year deal at the end of 2013, but the hard-running forward has displayed indifferent form in just 42 matches for the premiers.

With his 2016 campaign wiped out due to a one-year ban for his part in the Bombers' supplement scandal, Crameri has only played two games this year due to a troublesome hip injury that will see his miss the remainder of the season.

Beveridge said the club would not be offering Crameri an extra season as compensation for his doping ban, but he insisted the premiers would work with Crameri to get him fit and negotiate a deal to extend his time at Whitten Oval.

"The club is definitely dedicated to Stewy, and we see his future at the moment beyond this year, but we need to work together towards the end of the year deadline to make sure that happens," Beveridge said on Friday.

"Stewy is not going to be able to play (for the rest) this year, so between now and the end of the year we'll work with him to get him physically prepared for next year.

"At the moment he is not contracted beyond this year, but we'll work with him to make sure that takes place.

"That could happen as early as two weeks time, but it could happen a bit later."

Crameri joins star playmaker Jason Johannisen as key Bulldogs out of contract at season's end.

Johannisen recently reopened talks with club, after previously stating he didn't want to discuss his future with the Dogs until the end of the season.
