INJURY-RIDDLED Hawthorn onballer Jaeger O'Meara has dismissed speculation his latest knee setback is career threatening.

O'Meara, 23, played the first three games of the season after not playing a senior match for more than two years following knee surgeries.

He ruptured the patella tendon in his right knee in April 2015 and the Hawks said O'Meara copped a knock to that knee in round three against the Suns, which forced the midfielder to miss a couple of games.

The 2013 NAB Rising Star was asked by Channel Seven whether there was a danger he wouldn't be seen again.

"Not that I know of. My scans are all good, which is the main thing," O'Meara said.

"I've been scanned and they've come up clear. Got a little bit of stuff going on but nothing major and nothing to do with my previous surgery."

O'Meara lined up against St Kilda in round six but hasn't been seen since, with a return not expected until the June 22 clash with Adelaide, at the earliest.

"I'm really confident that once I've done this little conditioning block, that'll give me a launch pad for the rest of the year and I should be sweet," O'Meara said.

He knows why he is the focus of attention.

"I understand the panic. Jaeger O'Meara and knee, obviously panic stations for everyone that doesn't really know what's going on," O'Meara said.

The Hawks traded for O'Meara at the end of last season and after also acquiring Tom Mitchell from Sydney, were left without their first selection from last year and this year's draft.
