A GIANT Tom Bugg mural might have popped up in Melbourne's famed graffiti gallery in Hosier Lane but the Demons are making sure that's all the notoriety the utility gets this week.

The mural, by local artist Lushsux, features the hashtag #youready?, referencing Bugg's cheeky Instagram last Sunday.

Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin said his players would now take a "team-first" approach to social media after holding a meeting to address Bugg's pre-match social media taunt of the Western Bulldogs' Jason Johannisen.

Known for his niggle among rival players, Bugg posted a message suggesting he and his Melbourne teammates planned to apply plenty of physical pressure to the Bulldogs flyer.

"Tom plays the game a certain way and I think his teammates love the way he goes about his footy but I'd be lying if we didn't have the discussion around what we saw last week," Goodwin said on Thursday.

"As a club we want to be seen as respectful and humble and a club that's team-first and we've had an education with our group around what that looks like."

Goodwin said the Demons wanted their players to have personality - but more along the lines of young running defender Jayden Hunt, who is known for his colourful head-bands and quirky Instagram posts.

"We want them to have personality but we also want them to make sure they're really team-first in the way they go about their business," he said.
