GREATER Western Sydney defender Aidan Corr is the latest player to pledge his commitment to the club after extending his contract for a further two years.

Corr wasn't due to come out of contract until the end of next season, but is now tied to the Giants until the end of 2020.

The 23-year-old played just three senior games in a horror 2016 season due to a serious ankle injury, but has put that behind him to re-establish himself in Leon Cameron's best 18 this year.

With his speed and versatility, Corr is an important member of the GWS backline, and said his decision to join Dylan Shiel, Jon Patton, Zac Williams and Adam Tomlinson in extending his time in Sydney wasn't a tough one.

"I jumped straight at it like a lot of the other boys have lately," he said.

"I was rapt when the offer was put there as it was the best thing for me and my football.

"I love it here in Sydney and coming to work every day with 40 ripping blokes made it very easy for me to sign."

Corr has worked well alongside fellow talls Phil Davis and Tomlinson to give the GWS defence enormous strength this season, and GWS football manager Wayne Campbell was delighted to have the original Giant's future secured.

"Aidan is a highly valued member of the club and is well respected by his teammates," he said.

"He's in his fifth season at the club and is starting to reap the rewards of the hard work he and his teammates have put in over the years."

While Corr's decision is a huge boost for the Giants, they're still sweating on a decision from star midfielder Josh Kelly, who is yet to commit beyond this season. The futures of forward Devon Smith, and youngsters Jacob Hopper, Matthew Kennedy and Harry Himmelberg are also unknown after the end of 2017.
