CARLTON ruckman Andrew Phillips will be sidelined for the rest of the season after suffering a recurrence of a pre-season foot injury.

In a further blow for the Blues, tagger Ed Curnow has been ruled out of Saturday's clash with Adelaide due to a bruised larynx, while Jed Lamb is being monitored after he was concussed by Richmond defender Bachar Houli last round. 

Phillips was placed on the long-term injury list in January after sustaining a stress reaction in his foot.

The 203cm big man, who played only one senior game in round five this season, experienced soreness playing in the VFL at the weekend.  

"He has had surgery and will be sidelined for approximately 12 weeks, which ultimately rules him out for the remainder of our season," head of football Andrew McKay told carltonfc.com.au. 

"We are incredibly disappointed for Andrew, but he will now set his sights on a strong 2018 pre-season campaign in full health." 

Curnow was hospitalised on Sunday after copping a hit to his throat and won't face the Crows. 

"Given the unusual nature of this injury, we will have a clearer indication in the coming days as to the full extent of the bruising, but we will be taking a very cautious approach given the nature of it," McKay said. 

Lamb has been cleared of structural damage from the controversial hit from Houli, an incident which saw the Tigers backman sent to the AFL Tribunal and copping a two-week ban, which the League has appealed as "manifestly inadequate". 

"Jed has been cleared of any structural damage but he has concussive signs and will be monitored closely throughout the week," McKay said. 

"Naturally, we are always cautious with concussion symptoms so Jed will be closely observed and will need to pass all tests this week to be available to play. We will have a clearer indication of this by the end of the week."
