WESTERN Bulldogs premiership hero Tom Boyd was back training on Tuesday after taking leave to deal with clinical depression.

Last week, the club announced Boyd, 21, would take time away from the club to deal with mental health issues.

His teammate Matthew Boyd told RSN on Tuesday that the key forward was being well supported by his teammates and the club.

"He's going pretty well, as well as can be expected in these circumstances," Boyd said.

"We can really figuratively throw an arm around him this week and welcome him back to the group."

Fellow big man Travis Cloke played in the VFL last Sunday after dealing with his own mental health issues and booted three goals against Sandringham.
