PORT Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley believes free agent Jackson Trengove will remain at the Power next year despite losing his spot in the club's best 22.

Trengove has been overlooked for the third straight week, and won't play against Gold Coast at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

The 26-year-old has played 153 games for the Power, starting his career as a key defender, moving into the ruck and then playing as a forward this season.

"Yeah, I do (believe he will stay)," Hinkley told reporters on Friday.

"Knowing Jackson, I'd be surprised if he's not committed to the Port Adelaide Football Club, but it's one of those circumstances that is outside of my control.

"That's 'Jacko's' decision as much as anything, but for us as a club, we're still more than comfortable that will work itself out, as it always does."

Hinkley has kept faith with the youngsters who got the job done in the Power's gritty 17-point win against the Western Bulldogs at Ballarat last Saturday.

Defender Jasper Pittard completed the Power's final training session on Friday morning and will return to the side after missing last week with a calf complaint.

Midfielder Matt White will be the non-playing emergency.

Pittard comes into the side for the suspended Tom Jonas, who will miss the next two games for his hit on Luke Dahlhaus.

The Power can finish as high as fourth and earn a double chance in the finals depending on other results.

"All we can control is the way we perform," Hinkley said.

"Let the results, let the ladder work itself out and when that's all done and dusted, hopefully we're in really strong form and wherever we play two weeks after that, we give ourselves the best chance to perform.

"The scores of the other games shouldn't influence how we go at the next contest."

The Power face a Suns side led by interim coach Dean Solomon which is without star Gary Ablett, who pulled out on Thursday night with a hamstring injury.

"We're preparing to face 'Solly' and his team, it's not one player," Hinkley said.

"They'll be pretty combative, they'll be very defensively-minded and they'll be doing everything they can for the team.

"They're playing their last game of the season, I think it's pretty dangerous.

"Dean's trying to make his own little mark on the team."
