THE NAB AFL Trade Period gets underway at 9AM AEDT on Monday with many exciting moves to be made.

The free agency window began last Friday, with former Port big man Jackson Trengove joining the Western Bulldogs on three-year deal.

AFL.com.au's Trade Winds will provide a round-up of the latest action every morning until the end of the Trade Period on Thursday, October 19.

Watts to Power up

Out-of-favour Melbourne forward Jack Watts has opted to join Port Adelaide, Melbourne radio station SEN says.

Watts, who was drafted at No.1 in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft, had been told by the Demons to explore his options.

The 26-year-old was reluctant to leave and reportedly had hesitations about moving outside of Victoria.

He will say goodbye to his club and teammates at Melbourne's best and fairest on Monday night, according to the Herald Sun.

Barrier to Ablett deal

Geelong has a serious quandary on its hands with no contracted player prepared to move to Gold Coast, The Australian reports.

Ablett, 33, has told the Suns he wants to return to the Cattery and is prepared to take a "massive haircut on his recent remuneration", but Geelong is short of trade chips.

The superstar is reportedly willing to play for as little as $300,000.

The Suns have stated they want a best-22 player in return for Ablett, who won the club best and fairest award this year.

Impey to choose Hawks

Port Adelaide speedster Jarman Impey has nominated Hawthorn as his club of choice over the Western Bulldogs, according to Channel Seven.

The Bulldogs had the lure of having acquired Jackson Trengove for Port, who is a close friend of Impey, and the pair were recently spotted having a meal with superstar Dog Marcus Bontempelli.

Impey is contracted until the end of 2018 but The Age believes the Power will do a deal, if they believe it's fair.

The Hawks are expected to use Impey in the backline, rather than up forward, where he has played more recently.

Gibbs staying or going?

Carlton midfielder Bryce Gibbs would be open to a move to Adelaide but is not pushing for a trade, The Age says.

Gibbs is contracted until the end of 2019 and after unsuccessfully pushing for a deal to be done with the Crows at the end of the 2016 season, would again like to return to his home state.

It will take a massive offer to prise Gibbs out, according to The Advertiser.

Meanwhile, the Herald Sun reports Carlton will make a play for out-of-contract Geelong forward Darcy Lang.

Port onballer set to choose

Big-bodied Port Adelaide midfielder Brendon Ah Chee is likely to decide on West Coast as his new club, says The Advertiser.

AFL.com.au reported last week the 23-year-old wanted out of the Power.

Ah Chee had a medical at the Eagles last week.

Fremantle tall Matt Taberner will sign a new deal, according to Channel Seven.

Taberner, 24, had been out of contract and was on the trade table.
