ADELAIDE defensive coach James Podsiadly has left the club to pursue business interests.

Dual premiership winner and Hall of Famer Ben Hart has rejoined the Crows and will look after the defence.

"James is a quality person with a sharp football brain and he gave our club great service as a player and most recently as a member of the coaching panel," Crows head of football Brett Burton told the club's website.

"He was keen to stay involved and we discussed several possibilities but ultimately he has other life goals and interests to fulfil. We wish James and his wife Claire all the best for their future plans."

The Crows are yet to finalise the other roles in their coaching panel.

Former Sydney midfield coach Josh Francou joined the club last month and could fill the vacant forwards coaching role left by David Teague's departure to Carlton.

Crows defender Jake Kelly told reporters on Monday that Francou would be the midfield development coach.

"At this stage, Hart is taking the backs, replacing James Podsiadly," Kelly said.

"And Francou is replacing the midfield development coach, as far as I know.

"The forwards role, I'm not 100 per cent sure."

Ex-Crows captain Nathan van Berlo was the club's midfield development coach this season before he joined West Coast.
