COLLINGWOOD captain Scott Pendlebury has undergone surgery to remove the pins in his right middle finger in a planned follow-up to the injury he suffered in July this year.

The surgery to remove the pins was part of the star midfielder's recovery plan and no cause for alarm after Pendlebury posted a photo on social media in a hospital gown.

It is not related to a fresh injury Pendlebury suffered to his left middle finger during the Virgin Australia International Rules Series.

Pendlebury underwent surgery after injuring his right middle finger against Gold Coast in round 17, ending his season.

He had to be operated on a second time after a small fracture in the finger became detached from one of the pins.

Pendlebury is expected to be back in full training by the end of the year.

Star forward Jamie Elliott won't train until late January after requiring surgery to his left ankle.

Jordan De Goey, who underwent season-ending hip surgery in August, and Travis Varcoe, who had an operation to repair a dislocated elbow in July, are both back in training.
