SEB ROSS is set to miss 10-12 weeks after scans revealed the St Kilda midfielder suffered a high-grade hamstring tear in Saturday's NAB Challenge win over Essendon.

Ross badly damaged his left hamstring during the third term of the 50-point win. The Saints say he is not expected to require surgery.

The 21-year-old is the fifth Saint to have suffered a hamstring injury this pre-season.

Farren Ray has already been ruled out for 12-14 weeks following a similar injury in the Saints' first NAB Challenge clash against the Brisbane Lions.

Ray required surgery to repair a hamstring rupture.

Shane Savage, Dylan Roberton and Jack Billings all missed the match against Essendon due to hamstring problems.

Roberton's issue was reported as soreness while Savage and Billings both suffered hamstring strains that could keep them out for up to a month.
