CARLTON AFLW coach Damien Keeping has been hospitalised with an illness and will not coach the team against Greater Western Sydney at Drummoyne Oval on Friday night.

The Blues released a statement on Tuesday evening announcing Keeping, 35, had been admitted to hospital on Sunday night where he is set to undergo more testing to determine the nature of his condition. 

Blues AFLW assistant coach Nick Rutley has been named as the club's interim coach. 

Carlton's women's side got its season off to a positive start with an eight-point victory over Collingwood in the AFLW season opener at Ikon Park last Friday night.
