PORT Adelaide midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper has ruled himself out of Saturday night's clash with Geelong as an AFL investigation continues into a late-night incident he was involved in.

Powell-Pepper's decision comes a day after Power chief executive Keith Thomas questioned why the investigation was still ongoing.

The 20-year-old served a club-imposed suspension last week for breaking team rules in regards to the time he was out drinking alcohol, but was due to return against the Cats.

Powell-Pepper could face further punishment once the AFL investigation is complete into an alleged incident at an Adelaide bar on Sunday, April 8.

A Port Adelaide statement said club officials would continue to provide support for the second-year player.
