THE WESTERN Bulldogs will have to do without premiership forward Tory Dickson for up to six weeks after scans revealed he suffered a significant hamstring strain in the loss to Fremantle on the weekend.

Dickson sustained the injury in the second quarter and took no further part in the game.

The setback comes after the 29-year-old has been hampered by adductor, groin and abdominal complaints over the past two seasons.

Bulldogs medical services manager Chris Bell told westernbulldogs.com.au Dickson was set for a decent stint on the sidelines.

"Tory suffered a hamstring injury after overstretching in a contest in the second quarter of the game on the weekend," Bell said.

"Scans today have confirmed a moderate grade injury which means that we will be planning a return to play in about 4-6 weeks."

Draftee Aaron Naughton is expected to face Carlton on Friday night after the key defender pulled up well from a heavy knock against the Dockers.

"Luckily, (Aaron) didn't suffer any concussion symptoms, but he did get a cut to his chin," Bell said.

"He's come in really well today and we expect him to fully train later in the week."

However, the prognosis on Jack Redpath's knee soreness remains unclear after the hulking forward missed the trip west.

It's the same knee the 26-year-old has had reconstructed twice before.

"At this stage we'll have more of an accurate idea when we can get him back into training in the next one to two weeks," Bell said.

Fourth-year defender Roarke Smith will miss 1-2 weeks with a hip injury.

But in better news for the Dogs, defensive playmaker Hayden Crozier looks set to face the Blues after progressing well from a knee injury he suffered in the round one loss to Greater Western Sydney.

Fellow running defender Bailey Williams is also expected to be available for selection after missing last week with an inner-ear infection.

Key forward Josh Schache is likely to resume through the VFL if he passes a fitness test on a calf injury.
