PORT Adelaide forward Sam Gray will take his place in the Power's side for Friday night's crucial round 14 clash with Melbourne at Adelaide Oval.

Gray – the Power's second-leading goalkicker this season with 18 goals from 12 games – missed Thursday's training session through illness, but has been cleared to play.

That means Power recruit Jack Watts won't be given a late recall and will miss the chance to face his former club for the first time.

The fourth-placed Demons (8-4) are also as selected as they aim to bounce back from their Queen's Birthday loss to Collingwood in round 12.

Steven Motlop, Tom Rockliff, Todd Marshall and Dan Houston will start on the bench for the Power.

The Demons will start with James Harmes, Mitch Hannan, Bernie Vince and Bayley Fritsch on the interchange.
