CYRIL Rioli will not be coming out of retirement in 2019, despite his manager revealing four clubs had been in contact regarding the former Hawthorn star's playing future.

Rioli, 29, cut short his football career when he announced his retirement from the game last month in order to move to Darwin to spend more time with his family.

However, rumours circulated on Wednesday night that his former captain Luke Hodge was leading a push for Rioli to return to the game to play for Brisbane next season.

Hodge later disputed the suggestion, tweeting: "First I've heard of it."

Rioli's manager, Adam Ramanauskas, has since also quashed the speculation, reiterating that the star forward will not return to football next year, despite rival interest.

"It's the first I've heard of that," Ramanauskas told RSN Radio on Thursday.

"I've had four clubs contact me on Cyril Rioli, and that was probably two weeks after he decided to retire. There has been no further conversation from any of those four clubs."

When asked what his response to the four clubs was, Ramanauskas said: "No, he won't be playing. He's going to Darwin to live and start the next phase of his life."

Rioli enjoyed a glittering Hawthorn career that featured 189 games over 11 seasons, four premierships, three All Australian selections and a Norm Smith Medal.
