ROSS Lyon says he would be shocked if star wingman Bradley Hill wanted out of Fremantle.

Rumours have swirled recently about the 2017 Doig medallist and former Hawthorn triple premiership player's future, with talk he might be looking to return to Melbourne.

"That would shock me," Lyon said.

Hill battled a lingering knee issue early this season and ran into off-field trouble before being dumped from the leadership group in May.

The 25-year-old has struggled to recapture his best, but has another season to run on the three-year deal he signed at Freo after being traded home at the end of 2016.

"I'm not here to deal in speculation," Lyon said.

"All I know is he's opened up a pilates business, his girlfriend Sam is thrilled here, he came home for family, he's playing with his brother, he's been super for us.

"I think it just sits in the category of … well you know what it is, so that's fine."

Lyon also shut down speculation the Dockers might look at picking up Brendon Goddard in a playing or coaching role after he was told he wouldn't be offered a contract by Essendon.

"I saw the headline. He's been one of the special players in my coaching tenure. We had some interest in him when he was leaving St Kilda. It's not the journey we're on," Lyon said.

"We're fully booked. All our coaches are committed. We're signed. I don't see any openings anywhere."

Freo is determined to earn back some respect after a club record 133-point loss to Geelong against Collingwood on Sunday.

Lyon labelled it "an intense week" for the Dockers, who have copped a barrage of criticism following their ninth loss by at least 50 points.

"It was a torrent of critique, but that's OK," he said.

"It's what you do about it, it's how you respond. I expect us to respond in kind and play a lot better.

"We've won eight games by an average of 28 points against some pretty good teams. There's been clear improvement there. But everyone wants to talk about the losses.

"I'm a glass-half-full (person). I'm really committed. I really want to go through the rebuild.

"I'm not going anywhere. The board has been incredibly supportive.

"When I came in on Monday, I wasn't reading the papers. I didn't listen to any (criticism).

"What I do is work. We had a great review. I don't sit and procrastinate."

Saturday's final game will be a farewell appearance for defender Michael Johnson in his 244th match, but fellow veteran Danyle Pearce hasn't been recalled.

"Last year he really struggled with his disappointment (at being dropped)," Lyon said of Pearce.

"Some people are a bit more embarrassed by it (a farewell game). He hasn't been a Docker for life, although he's played 120 games for us, he's been a great acquisition for us, I can't speak highly enough.

"But what happens is when he played, he became a whipping boy pretty quick. There's no doubt that hurt him.

"They are human, players. He heard all the criticism.

"There's no doubt he's been scarred by that. He's just balanced that up, do I need all that headache, or do I just keep enjoying myself (at Peel)?.

"I've heard all the rumours (like) he's disgusted. It's all garbage."
