DYLAN Shiel could seek a move to a Victorian club, his manager Paul Connors says.

The Greater Western Sydney onballer has a year remaining on his contract but speaking at the launch of NAB AFL Trade Radio on Wednesday, Connors said a trade was well and truly in play.

"I wouldn't be surprised either way," Connors said.

"He's contracted for another year and, like all trades for anyone in contract, it has to work both ways.

"He's comfortable, his girlfriend's extremely happy in Sydney.

"There's a possibility in Melbourne – he won't be going to Fremantle or to Adelaide or to the other Sydney team — he's at GWS next year or in town (Melbourne)."

Connors was reluctant to agree with the notion the Giants might need to free up salary cap space but said it "may" be a factor in Shiel's potential move.

He said there was still a strong chance the 25-year-old could stay at the Giants.

"I can't definitively say (what he'll do), but I wouldn't be surprised if he stays because of this bond between the place and what they've got there."
