JACK Lukosius believes his footy would thrive if he was forced to move interstate at next month's NAB AFL Draft, with the potential of a move to Gold Coast looming large.

Carlton looks set to recruit Victorian midfielder Sam Walsh with the first pick, with Gold Coast likely to have the next two selections as a result of free agency compensation.

With the highly rated South Australian forward seen alongside Walsh as one of the best prospects in this year's draft pool, the potential of a move to the Suns appears likely.

No South Australian team will draft until Adelaide selects at pick seven, with Port Adelaide further back at pick nine. It makes the prospect of a move interstate almost guaranteed.

However, Lukosius has no qualms with being forced to move, saying he would relish the prospect of heading interstate – even to the struggling Suns with picks two or three.

"It would be awesome to stay home with the family, but I can see big benefits in moving away and becoming a better person and growing up a lot quicker," Lukosius said.

"I think if I move away, I won't be 100 per cent ready for it. But I think I'll make the most of it and it would be good for my football."

Speculation has persisted that Adelaide could look to bundle its three top-20 draft picks and move higher up the order in an effort to have a shot at securing Lukosius this November.

It makes the upcoming Trade Period an interesting time for the youngster, who will be watching intently to see how the Crows operate at the exchange table.

WHEN DOES TRADE PERIOD START? All the key dates

"I watch footy a fair bit, so I'm pretty interested in all of that," Lukosius said.

"There's still a week until the Trade Period, so it's still a long way to go before anything happens. We'll just wait and see until the end of it."

There are a number of quality South Australian prospects in this year's draft pool, with Izak Rankine, Connor Rozee and Jackson Hately also seen by recruiters as top-10 prospects.

With the Suns likely to hold two – and maybe three – early draft picks, Lukosius said it would be nice if one of his state teammates joined him at Metricon Stadium.

"It would be good to have a mate to go with you," Lukosius said.

"It would make the transition a lot easier, but I've got good mates from around Victoria and everywhere – not just in South Australia – through the AFL Academy.

"I'm pretty open to whatever."
