Brody Mihocek has earned a new two-year deal at Collingwood

MATURE-AGE success story Brody Mihocek has locked in two more seasons with Collingwood after his impressive 29-goal debut campaign.

AFL.com.au reported in August that discussions had started on a potential two-year deal for Mihocek, and that prospect is now a reality.

The Tasmanian, who turns 26 in February, first nominated for the NAB AFL Draft in 2011 and was overlooked six times in total before the Pies finally gave him his shot at the big time last year.

Mihocek, a defender when Port Melbourne won the VFL premiership in 2017, finally broke into Collingwood's senior line-up in round 11 and made an instant impact with four goals against Fremantle.

He didn't miss a game thereafter, including the Magpies' four finals.

Mihocek averaged 11.6 disposals, 4.9 marks (1.4 contested), 5.6 score involvements, 2.5 inside 50s and 2.1 tackles, on top of his 29 goals, from 16 games this year.

He helped seal a top-four spot for Collingwood with a pair of clutch goals midway through the final term against Fremantle in Perth in round 23.

The Pies' forward line, once a weakness, was integral to their unlikely charge to the Grand Final, with Mihocek, Jordan De Goey, Will Hoskin-Elliott, Josh Thomas, Jaidyn Stephenson and Mason Cox all striking fear into rivals.

Son-of-a-gun Josh Daicos and tagger Levi Greenwood will both also receive new deals, as should defender Tyson Goldsack, who is still in negotiations with the club.

Jarryd Blair, Kayle Kirby, Jack Madgen, Sam McLarty, Adam Oxley and Josh Smith are Collingwood's other out-of-contract players who are yet to be announced as having new deals.

Kirby's manager, Scott Lucas, said last week his client's AFL career was in jeopardy because of a heart condition.

The Magpies' sole departure so far from this year's list is enigmatic forward Alex Fasolo, who signed as a free agent with Carlton.
