PORT Adelaide key forward Charlie Dixon could miss up to two months under the best-case scenario in his recovery from a broken leg, providing he doesn't have any more setbacks.

The 28-year-old had minor ankle surgery on Tuesday to fix damage sustained in the Power's round 21 loss to West Coast last year when he fractured his fibula and damaged ligaments in his right ankle.

Power senior assistant coach Michael Voss on Friday said there was uncertainty around when Dixon would be ready to play.

"We're still hoping it's in that round six to eight area, it's still a little bit unknown with Charlie," Voss said.

"He's just having little bits and pieces that seem to grumble along as we increase the loads.

"He's had a procedure to try and clean up the rest of that, that's stopping him getting to the next level.

"Once that settles down we can ramp up his workload again."

The 200cm, 108kg spearhead has kicked 199 goals in his 126 games with Gold Coast and Port Adelaide.

Dixon played 65 games for the Suns from 2011-15 before joining the Power on a five-year deal.

His best season was in 2017 when he booted 49 goals in 23 games, was second in the League in contested marks and finished runner-up in the Power's best and fairest behind Paddy Ryder.
