THE ARRIVAL of ruck Andrew Phillips has forced out Zac Clarke, the big man one of four players delisted by Essendon.

Clarke, 29 and a former Fremantle player, was signed as a rookie in the pre-season supplemental selection period and played nine games for the Bombers this year.

The 28-year-old Phillips was traded from Carlton on the final day of the Telstra AFL Trade Period in a deal that also involved an exchange of picks.

Former rookie selection Jake Long (the son of club legend Michael) and rookies Tom Jok and Trent Mynott have also been delisted.

Long managed five AFL games – three in 2016 and two last year – over his five years on the list but was a consistent player for the club's VFL side.

Mynott solely played VFL over his two years on the rookie list, while the athletic Jok played his one and only AFL match in round 23 this year against the Pies after being picked up in last year's rookie draft.

RETIREMENTS, DELISTINGS AND TRADES Your club's list changes

"On behalf of the club, I would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Zac, Trent, Jake and Tuth for their contribution to the red and black," club football manager Dan Richardson said.

"It is always a difficult time of year saying goodbye to quality people, so we wish all four gentlemen the best for their future endeavours."
